Toyota Tundra
I'd like to hear from 07 Tundra owners about their towing experiences regarding fuel economy. I've heard a few stories of very poor fuel economy. I'm towing a 23' WW SL with a V10 F250 now. I'd just like some comparisons before I decide. I get 12 mpg. solo and 7 to 9.5 depending on how big a hurry I get in.
RE: Mileage
00 F250, CC, SB, K&N FIPK, Gibson Cat Back. 12 solo, I rarely exceed 65 here in Cali. Towing really depends on speed. 23' WWSL. Last trip from SoCal to Quartzite was 8.83 by hand calc. I stayed under 65 the whole time. After that in AZ it was anywhere from 8.83 to 7.45 because I was doing 75-80. I won't do that in Cali because of trafic congestion and a way lower spped limit. By the way, my mileage isn't really much better with my 6x12 encloded MC trailer either. It really seems to depend on my right foot.
RE: Well..got nailed for not having the non-com Class A DL
So you need a medical exam? And do you need a new medical exam every 2 years like the commercial truck drivers?
A physical is required for a CDL (don't confuse CDL and non-commercial) only if you operate interstate. I have had a chauffeurs license since I was 18 (a few years ago!) and a CDL since their inception. Since I only operate intrastate, I do not need a physical anymore. (I guess they don't care what kind of physical condition you're in unless you cross a state line.)
A few other differences that we with CDL licenses face, that non-commercial drivers don't:
1. If we are convicted of DWI (even with a non-commercial vehicle), our CDL is revoked for one year.
2. We are subject to alcohol and drug testing (that I talked about earlier).
3. New HazMat drivers must be fingerprinted and have a background check done, before they can obtain their certification.
4. You must be 21 to get an interstate CDL (some states will issue an intrastate CDL at 18).
5. .04 blood alcohol level no matter what vehicle you drive.
6. No traffic school????
There were some others that sounded pretty severe too, I can't remember them all.
I have a class B with tank, air brake and Haz Mat endorsements.
RE: WW SL2300 Weigh In
Yeah, thats my next trip. The mfgs sticker says 660LBS CCC. That makes it tough to get more than 2 bikes if I want to stay legal.
WW SL2300 Weigh In
With both axles on the scale, hooked to tow vehicle I weighed in at 7000 lbs. This is how I was loaded when I weighed in.
Honda CR450
Yamaha Zuma
40 gals water
1/2 tank in fuel station (12 gals?)
reefer empty
holding tanks less that 1/4
Bedding for 2, a few dinner staples, clothes for just 2 days, regular rv equip-chocks, blocks, dump stuff, I don't haul any extra junk.
I might see if I can talk the spousal unit into emptying it out for a true bottom line weigh in.
Would the tongue being on the scale change my total weight?
RE: Which screen room for ramp?
We went with the Outback Awning and Screen Room combination. It was a few more bucks, and some install, but we're glad we did.
Here's with just the awning,

Awesome campground, where exactly is it???
RE: Floor Insulation in WW SL
My old Prowler had some flexible but firm liner on the bottom of it, semi transparent. Mybe I'll check with WW or some other mfgs. here in SoCal.
Floor Insulation in WW SL
Has anyone ever insulated/enclosed the floor on a Superlite or other brand? It doesn't look like it would be all that hard but I want to make sure it is worth the time and money to do it.
